Hybrid Design Considerations

Environmental:

  • Jacket – PE jacket for weather and UV Radiation protection.
  • Shield – Corrugated aluminum shield is welded (closed tube) and watertight to provide additional weather protection in case of damage to jacket.

Install:

  • Designed for harsh site conditions – packaging, connectors, jacket, shielding.
  • Cables designed to match common coax sizes – allows use of readily available, low cost coax accessories – familiar to install contractors
  • Elements carefully sized & wrapped in high friction tape – prevents element slippage for vertical install
  • Rip cord is included to trim to length – elements are not epoxied for clean on-site trimming
  • Conductors are numbered and fibers are labeled to avoid confusion
  • Junction box is used to provide over voltage protection, manage spare fibers and enable replacement of fiber jumpers to RRU

 

Eupen Hybrid Construction

Common Hybrid Cables:

  • 5/8” cable – 1-2 fiber pairs, 1 conductor pair
  • 7/8” cable – 3-12 fiber pairs, 3 or 6 conductor pairs
  • 1-1/4” cable – 6-18 fiber pairs, 5-6 conductor pairs

 

Junction Box, OVP & Cable Mgmt

  • One box supports multiple radios
  • Environmentally sealed (IP67)
  • Fully customizable port, cable block and OVP configurations
  • Power and fiber cable management
  • No maintenance, metal oxide varistor over voltage protection
  • Ground buss for earthing of hybrid feeder and DC jumpers to tower
  • Alarm port for OVP monitoring

 

Factory Cable Preparation

Hybrid Cables Delivered Ready to Install:

  • Cut to length – site specific
  • Fiber connections terminated & fiber and power labeled
  • Full test report for each fiber
  • Packaged & Protected for easy install (corrugated protection tube, pulling sock for easy install into junction box)
